Right. So, my MP is usually a bit of an arse, he's New Labour and currently yammering all the time on Twitter about how AV is the spawn of the devil. I follow him to keep an eye on him, even though I can't vote.

But he does occasionally have interesting insight about non-political things. Like Doctor Who. And this blew my mind with the simplicity of it...spoilers sweetie, you know the drill. )

Right, after that Rather Good Doctor Who, I am compiling a 1969 playlist for the episode. Because I can.

As for the rest, terribly clever. I only have one point that makes me itch in a bad way...but I don't think I can review the episode properly (either formally or informally) until everything's resolved in this storyline.

And that is all I will say for now!

Between Lis Sladen's death and watching Marwencol for the first time...I'm pretty broken. Leaving the net be for the rest of the night.

Saw the DW Christmas episode. Not bored, but not overly impressed, either. I am no fun. (spoilers) )

We also watched the first Sherlock, which is ACE and I need to watch the rest. There will eventually be thinky thoughts about disability (and degrees of disability, both physical and psychological). Also the fact that in that ep, much of Sherlock as written is just Sociopathic Eleventh Doctor, thank you Moffat.

Also, speaking of Steve-o, trailer spoilers that are not about River Song. )
rhivolution: David Tennant does the Thinker (Default)
I am not bothered by immortal!Doctor, for several reasons:

- It's Sarah Jane Adventures, which I don't entirely buy as canonical.
- It may not be explicitly stated, from the wording of Guardian's article.
- How many times has Doctor Who contradicted itself in terms of canon rules? ABOUT TEN MILLION.
- GEEKY ALERT: As someone notes in the Guardian comments, the twelve regeneration limit was a Time Lord imposition and artificial. None of their governance, no limit.

All I can say is that I've learned to roll with the punches; paradigms in this fandom shift regularly without a clutch. It'll be okay.
rhivolution: text only: "I hate so much about the things that you choose to be." (sheer disgust: TO (US) quote)
Forthcoming: meta on the Torchwood US casting call that's going around, because there are multiple levels of fail there (race [any non-white person is interchangeable!], gender [she's in love], disability [he's an insane but clever criminal] and...well, what I get into in the subject line).

Not that I was expecting much from RTD, but nothing this bad.

Anyway, I've got to go to the orthodontist and deal with my father today, but this...I've got things to say.

It may tie into my 'the dominant UK paradigm about US people is about as fucked as what the dominant US paradigm about the UK' concept.

Edited because I made a blanket statement that I thought better of.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, yours truly is, for some reason, out of spoons today. I'm not sure why. Weather, perhaps. I think I'm gonna go watch some soccerfootball or something.

But all I can say is if the rumours about Doctor Who are true, that spoiler ), I...am really, really tired of this trend. Really tired. Even if it makes sense, I am still tired of it.

ETA: I continue to collect links on the trans*/genderfail topic. If you've got any that I haven't put here, drop me a comment? Thanks!
