Saw the DW Christmas episode. Not bored, but not overly impressed, either. Sorry, I'm a shit romantic, but I couldn't get past the complete cardboard lady deus ex machina character. LITERALLY WOMAN IN REFRIGERATOR. The worldbuilding was just fine, though I'd like to see more explanation besides flying fish and sharks which are not actually fish at all, as we know. The whole thing needed moar Amy and Rory. And it didn't make me weepy. I don't think I've been weepy for DW in way too long.

We also watched the first Sherlock, which is ACE and I need to watch the rest. There will eventually be thinky thoughts about disability (and degrees of disability, both physical and psychological). Also the fact that in that ep, much of Sherlock as written is just Sociopathic Eleventh Doctor, thank you Moffat.

Also, speaking of Steve-o, please let these USA stories not suck like RTD's O HAI WE R MERKINS DURKA DURR bits? I mean, I'm not setting the bar very high.*

And, of course, this brings us back to the 'going to other Earth places that are not Anglo-tastic' thing that never seems to happen.

* I will say this for Spooks--at least their portrayals of US Americans are multi-faceted, even when antagonistic.
