rhivolution: David Tennant does the Thinker (lost in a good thought: DW/DT)

I...am low on spoons. I think it is seriously a combo of the stress of a new job, along with hormones and neurochemicals going off just in general. I've been melancholy and not-quite-weepy and meh.

I care. I'm caring too much. And so I have to disengage for a bit. I'm sorry.

In light of that, I offer a shirtless David Tennant wearing eyeliner for Fright Night. Sadly, it is an animated GIF, but still. (via [livejournal.com profile] knitmeapony)

Right, so I am supposed to be interviewed this afternoon by people on behalf of Glasgow City Council regarding LGBT* things and community support and whatever. I keep freaking out and thinking that I'm a shitty representative of the community because I'm heteromarried (never mind that I'm sure they're interviewing loads of other people). And I have to keep reminding myself that I am queer in sexuality and queer in gender and they should understand that there are people like me in their community, not just the standard 'gays and lesbians' that well-meaning straight people think of when they think of The Community. Not that it is bad to be one of those people, just that there are more of us in the queerness.

I get paid for my time, it's all okay.

Still do not have a job, despite sending out loads of applications. My latest panic is that people are going to think I'm a bum because I have what appear to be gaps in employment at a perfunctory glance of my CV. I had a wedding, a dissertation, and months of waiting on the Border Agency, okay? Please give me a chance to explain as much!

And I have overdue fines at the library, shit.

I think the anxiety is what caused my IBS attack. Worst I have ever had, zomg woe.

There is totally a fanmix coming for this one, as well as an annotated version. 'Cause while it is only 4K, for me that is Epic Fic, and a lot of thinking went into this one, including consideration of disability and Trek's Issues with aliens. And, uh, the Proclaimers. Shut up.

Also, I've only had one drabble requested for my More Joy Day giveathon. MOAR DRABBLE REQUESTS PLEASE.

* Fun fact: we never got MLK Day off when I was in school, it being classed as an observance day in Wisconsin public schools. I believe each district determines whether or not it's a day off.

Yes, I've been spammy of late. Sorry.

Didn't get any work on my Festivids entry done today. Blast. I've only got maybe 50 seconds left to do...perhaps later. I don't suppose anyone might be interested in having a look at the rough draft when I'm done with it? Drop me a comment and we'll talk.

It's time for Matt to watch one of my films--he showed me The Big Lebowski, so he gets to see O Brother, Where Art Thou? We may be trying to get through a bunch of Coen stuff and Westerns before True Grit comes out. It's a hell of a lot better than what's on telly here tonight...no offence to the many of you who may watch X-Factor or American Idol, but that is so very not my thing. About as not my thing as Glee is.*

Meanwhile, on the weather front, there's been a thaw here that's run long and warm enough to melt EVERYTHING that had fallen. There isn't much else to say about it except that it was perfectly timed as the shops were running out of perishables thanks to frozen roads. And that I was tired of worrying that I would fall and break my head open, or that Matt would fall and break his head open as his balance is off due to his hand, and...you get the idea.

It is now the real Scotland In December again, which is to say, damp and a bit sullen. I can live with that.

* Even completely setting aside the compounded pile o' fail--I mean, I'm a Star Trek fan, ffs, I know cognitive dissonance--I refuse to watch anything set in a high school in the last ten years, particularly US Midwestern high schools.
