FIC: Sunshine on Leith (Star Trek AOS, Gaila/Uhura, PG-13)

Whee, the Where No Woman New Year Exchange reveal was early, because it's a holiday weekend in the US.* I wrote AOS sorta-femslash for the first time ever...

Title: Sunshine on Leith
Author: [personal profile] rhivolution ([archiveofourown.org profile] rhi)
Fandom: Star Trek AOS
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: (skip) Non-explicit references to slavery and non-consensual sex.
Summary: The turning of a year: what happened to Gaila and Uhura between the fall of Nero and the relaunch of Enterprise.
Notes: Written for [archiveofourown.org profile] lilbreck in the Where No Woman NYE. Additional notes in end of text at AO3. 4078 words.

------

There is totally a fanmix coming for this one, as well as an annotated version. 'Cause while it is only 4K, for me that is Epic Fic, and a lot of thinking went into this one, including consideration of disability and Trek's Issues with aliens. And, uh, the Proclaimers. Shut up.

Also, I've only had one drabble requested for my More Joy Day giveathon. MOAR DRABBLE REQUESTS PLEASE.

* Fun fact: we never got MLK Day off when I was in school, it being classed as an observance day in Wisconsin public schools. I believe each district determines whether or not it's a day off.

Hi!! So, I read this over at AO3 and loved it. I won a podfic reading at the recent [community profile] fund_jcollins auction from [identity profile] nickelmountain.livejournal.com and would be so very happy if you would allow her to podfic it for me. It would be shared, and likely announced over at [community profile] amplificathon, and/or the LJ community. I liked very much the sense of agency that Gaila had in the fic, I liked the femslash theme, and I loved the thought very evident in this fic. I also liked the sense of sexuality and genders both being not binary, which is something I experience in RL. If you could any email reply to elemgi 3 at yahoo dot com, I would be most pleased.

Hi, I don't think I gave you the link to Nickle Mountain's podfic of this work on AO3. She's done an excellent, thoughtful reading.
