a few random thoughts

For starters, anyone who was fond of early Merlin or is currently fond of Merlin, or hell, likes Janelle MonĂ¡e, I'd love more feedback on Cold War.

Secondly, a combination of RP, the title of next week's Doctor Who, watching some Three and Five serials, and this video (music NSFW) wherein Old Skool Doctor Shoots Things...makes me really want to write meta about how the Doctor is not really a good person and that is okay. He wants to be a good person. But he's not.

Sadly, this is something that New Who has often glossed over, and a fallacy into which I have fallen myself.

Point the third: work is going okay. It's stuff I'm capable of doing and the people are nice, I just need to adjust to the energy drain that comes from an 8.5 hour day.

I...do not know how I feel about this thing involving whole extra points or whatever for including under-represented characters in Kink Bingo. It tastes of cookies, to me, and as someone else I saw noted, it could encourage problematic representations.

I'm not actively saying THIS IS BAD. Just saying that it makes me itch.

Five: Anyone who follows Homestuck will know why I am using this (Dreamwidth) icon. sigh.

I'm not doing Kink Bingo this year because I just don't seem to write the right way for that kind of challenge. By the time I'm finished a story it's about something else entirely to the kink it was meant for.

But, I took a look at my fic from previous years. 27 fics, 20 of which feature chromatic characters in major roles. The idea of putting myself forward for pats on the head for that makes me squirm. But I can't tell if that's me being me or if there's something really off about this idea.

I didn't write those stories as some sort of fictional oat bran and broccoli shake, full of moral fibre, I wrote them because I liked the characters.
