all those things that seemed so important/mister, they vanished right into the air

Can we talk about how every time I see The River mentioned, I think it's based on the (amazing) Springsteen song/album?

Because that would seriously make a really interesting drama, about the 70s rural US and lost dreams and teen pregnancy and unions and economic issues. TOPICAL. I would watch the fuck out of that show.

Which film was that if I may ask?

What can I say, starkers Viggo Mortensen is more than relevant to my interests.

So, to be fair, is media based on songs, but I would totally be lying if I said that the latter wasn't piquing my interest as much as the former.

Er swap latter and former around in my last sentence so it actually makes sense, please?

Oh! I already own that movie (see: relevant to my interests) but I have not yet watched it. I didn't know it was based on a song though, that makes it a little more interesting to me. Also pushes it up somewhat on the "to be watched" pile.
sohotrightnow: Bruce Springsteen and Steven Van Zandt being dorks. ([bandom] wildest things we'd ever seen)

Interesting story: the "official video" for that song -- like, the one that's included on the DVD of all his official videos -- is, iirc, actually a fanvid someone made to the song.

/full of ridiculous Steen trivia

I would totally watch that.

Are you a Josh Ritter fan? He did an amazing cover of that song.

Oh, I love him so much. Animal Years is one of my favorite albums ever—perhaps top favorite, if you judge by my play counts in iTunes—though I'm not as much of a fan of his later stuff. Anyway, he does a great cover of the River, which is available here.

I would watch this with you in a heartbeat and I generally avoid rural US settings! Ack.
