Right. So, my MP is usually a bit of an arse, he's New Labour and currently yammering all the time on Twitter about how AV is the spawn of the devil. I follow him to keep an eye on him, even though I can't vote.
But he does occasionally have interesting insight about non-political things. Like Doctor Who. And this blew my mind with the simplicity of it...
River is the spaceman what kills the Doctor at the beginning of TIA.
Of course, this doesn't explain WHY at all, but it does seem to fit better than anything. Having only just watched Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone this past week, this is a bit more fresh in mind for me, but come on, the setup for who River killed makes it so obviously the Doctor, because there's not anyone else she could really be on about with being the best man she's ever known.
There could be a reason in River having to fulfil the time loop and that's why she has to do it...
