ETA: A bit of an explanation. GRRM made a post about how he needed to take a cold shower after getting the twelve casting tapes for a (female) Game of Thrones character.

knitmeapony tweeted her disgust. I RTed mine, then went back and deconstructed my feelings about it, on Twitter. And I was engaged by some GRRM fans, not about misogyny, but about how it was okaaaaay for him to be so involved in the production, for a couple of BS reasons. (I do not refer to

raanve's tweets, which were ace.)

I saw your comments on Twitter. Did i miss fallout somewhere?

I got RTed by a GRRM fan twitter account, and a couple of people were a little clueless. Nothing to do with misogyny, everything to do with my opinion re: authorial access to screen productions of their works.

Oh, of course, because the misogyny isn't worth talking about. I guess. o_O Not that i want you to have to deal with cranky fans over GRRM's misogyny!

I like to think that the fans just take the misogyny as a given and carry on from there. My big issue with his post today is that, as I noted on Twitter, it's really fucking unprofessional to publicly talk like that about casting tapes. That's like saying you wanked over someone's job application.

But they didn't engage with me on that either. No, just half-assed reasons why GRRM should be so involved with the production.
