By the way: still sick, though it's worse in the mornings.

Does anyone know how long the flu is actually supposed to last? This has been the better part of eight days, and I keep improving and then getting lousy again. I didn't think my immune system was that shitty, but apparently it is.

I would like to feel better consistently, so I can actually do some fandom stuff along with the scant few items a day that I manage around the house. [insert more whining here]

At the very least, I'd like to feel like I'm improving.

sorry to tell you that the real flu, influenza, not some other virus masquerading as the flu, can last up to two weeks.

when I had the real flu about ten years ago i spent ten days in bed wishing i were dead. high fever, body aches, hurt all over, my hair hurt.

no upper respiratory or stomach at all. just a high fever and wishing i were dead.

my sympathies. just stay in bed. try to rest and sip a lot of soup. no other option at this point.

Yeah, I've got the upper respiratory bit, but thankfully nothing stomach. Fever's been moderate, but pretty consistent, from what I can tell. Sadly, my husband only sees me at the best points in the day (evenings), and then thinks I am capable of productivity in similar fashion at other points. And I feel guilty anyway because I was raised to Rise Above Illness.

your husband sounds strangely unsympathetic. I'm sorry for that. The real flu is extremely debilitating and is not like a head cold. hang in there.
