dancing on my cast away dreams

Seriously, I think that yours truly or anyone else out there in fandom land interested in social justice could be the fail police, and it would be a full-time job, but SORRY NO SPOONS. Suffice it to say, at the moment, I do not have anything to say about the massive trans* and genderfail fuckup that is the latest to come out of fandom.

Except that:
- The complete lack of apology and massive defensive idiocy by the author makes me want to vomit.
- I feel a bit numb. Not being angry is a bad sign.
- You know, honestly, while fail does happen across the scope of fandom, why does this keep cropping up in RPS of late? Are the answers difficult ones like what Vito and Thoracopagus were saying this week? (see Primer post for those links.) I must chew.

Collecting links, though. Please be warned that there are assault triggers in the author's comments and possibly in the posts due to discussion.

Seriously, do they think we want to be the fail police? Oh my god, no. That is the most thankless job in the history of ever. Not only do you get burned out in no time flat, you will be ground into dust if you don't watch out for yourself.

The only thing that has made me glad in this series upon series of fails is the number of people speaking up. As [personal profile] ephemere said in her post, no one would have even said anything a few years ago. One year ago even, the number of people speaking out would be fewer. The number increasing makes me glad not just because it means awareness is increasing but only because that means there are more shoulders to bear the weight. People who've been around in social justice circles long enough will know what I mean.

I got nothing that comes to mind about that author's flounce other than GTFO, and lose your way back here.

Comparing her little butt hurt feelings to sexual assault? I mean come on now.
