So, can we talk about the season finale of Leverage?
In pluses and minuses for the first time ever!
+ MARK SHEPPARD. Yes, Mark Sheppard has gone from That Guy to The Guy What Makes Everything Better.
+/- Jonathan Frakes probably made this less bad than it could have been, but he really only does super well when he has a good script.
+ Continued UST between Hardison and Parker without any resolution. That is how UST should be, and it fits the characters.
+ Eliot and the coffee. I liked that scene.
Unfortunately, that does not make up for the pervasive wtf.
- Okay, Dubai. There are apparently only two Arab people in Dubai, and no South Asian people? At least that merit speaking parts or even major places in the background.
- Also, Dubai is apparently very green and looks like the Pacific Northwest, namely gray sky and Americany buildings. Who knew? WHY Dubai if you can't afford to go to a desert (waterfront, yes, but it don't RAIN much there) and hire many Arab actors? Why not make it Monte Carlo or Hong Kong, which would be a bit more believable? Seriously? And bad background work during the car chase and jump.
- Not even a rich white dude would EVER buy that Hardison is Saudi. Apparently, even with drastically different facial structure and skin tone, all brown people look alike. And even Midwestern US white kid me can tell his keffiyeh was half-assed.
- The team don't apparently seem to give a shit that they CAUSED A NUCLEAR INCIDENT affecting a large portion of a Balkan nation.
So yeah. Not the best thought out plan, team.
