Having read all this VVC shit that's going down, all I can say is fuck any chance of me vidding in the future. Like, if there's that kind of stuff and inability to change in the community, then seriously, y'all don't need me. Even if I have an eye for it and a degree and a half of editing skillz, it sure reads like no one will give a shit about anything I feel.

Honestly, it really does feel like a clique and a deterrent.

Also, there's nasty whitewashing in publishing YA AGAIN, there's apparently a tendency to blame M. Night Shyamalan and ignore the complicity of studios and TPTB in the Airbender debacle, and some third grader here in WI drowned possibly due to his OCD, as he was obsessed with water. At the very least, the media is reporting it as a possibility already, and I just cannot cope with the questions and the clinging and the implications.

Generally: I am just not in the mood, 'cause I was doing fic instead of nap. Go read my fic, I'm done.

The initial bit was bad, but this just keeps accumulating the badness. Admittedly, as things do.

I think there's room for more than one community in vidding. Vidding is just a way of transforming works. The people who do it could hold any number of positions or fail any number of ways, or not. VVC is so tiny and many folks who make and/or watch vids have never heard of it.

Like for an alternate example, I read fic. There have been people failing in my fandoms (CSI for example). I called them out of it and was met by very bad reactions. But, I don't think this is inherent in fic or in even x or y fandom.

I just think this sort of fail comes up through every medium and in every environment.

I guess it hits harder when we think we are in a geek haven or fan haven. But really, it's remarkable when it doesn't happen.

I'm not writing off your feelings, just putting out there my own reasoning on this is all.

Oh, don't worry, I agree. It was more an angry and frustrated generalization of woe, particularly as I noted to inkstone, there were people of some renown fucking up. Sigh.

Yeah. He wandered off from home when he was playing outside, apparently. They found his body in a fairly large river, but it was a mile plus from his house, through basically a forest.

I don't want to know what kind of thought processes would make him that determined, but I can believe it. People don't realise that OCD can kill.

Hey, you don't have to vid for the VVC community! The vidders I consider to be my vidding community have had all kinds of other issues with VVC for years. And aren't we going to have a revolutionary feminist vidshow at WisCon pretty soon? Don't let a few people define a whole complex form!

Hee, I know. I just am frustrated at the ass-showing of some seriously talented people. Though I really need to sit down and vid, it'll only happen after my diss gets done!
