As per my comment threads in your post...Simmons' White Atheist card does end up showing. It's good, and he knows what he's on about with so many nifty things, but...it can be hard to handle.

Still, better than what happens in Ilium/Olympos, which I think I intentionally blocked from my mind on sheer wtfery.
