That's a wicked interesting post, thanks for sharing as I'd not seen it. I think the general consensus is MOAR DARRE PLZ across the board, and perhaps we'll get that in the third book. Though that post sort of implies that that's not where Jemisin wants to go with it, per se.
I usually dislike unstable narrative, because try as I might, I'm generally a bit linear in my thinking. However, it worked with THTK because of the sheer instability of the entire situation, and I really appreciated that.
I agree on the human!Naha bit, and I didn't really get a chance to do a second readthrough; what I didn't get was how the human!Naha was so disparate from what god!Nahadoth did, when the other gods were less separate. Was that explained and I just missed it? I also agree that Scimina was a bit too one dimensional...
As for the privilege narrative, I think that I'm willing to cut a little slack in light of the second book. (Tamora Pierce is only JUST getting to books about Tortallians outside the nobility...and they're remarkably good. About time, I say.) I'd have appreciated perhaps a bit more in Darre before the main story of Yeine in Sky began, I think.
