Hey - I'm not sure of the best way to get in contact with you, so apologies for the deluge - I've dropped you a note on LJ and by email as well.
I really enjoyed this vid and, as I haven't seen the movie, I found it an accessible window into the story. It's always wonderful how Festivids introduces fandom to so many new stories, and I'm glad you shared this one.
I was also hoping to include this vid in a vidshow I'm organizing at the University of Hawai'i this fall for the conference "Creating Futures Rooted in Wonder: Bridges between Indigenous, Science Fiction, and Fairy Tale Studies." I think the film and your vid do an excellent job of bridging indigenous storytelling, science fiction, and the future, and I would like your permission to include it in my vidshow.
A little about me - I'm a fan and academic - I've been in fandom since about 1994, and started publishing on fandom in 2003. I'm about to start a new job in the media studies department at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands, and in the past I've taught in departments of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. I specialize in queer theory, fan cultures, and transmedia. You can find me by this name on twitter, LJ, DW, and Ao3.
Let me know if you want any more info about me or the event! Thanks!
Yay! and a Request
